School Philosophy and Vision
Mary E. Phillips High School
extends an invitation to education to any Wake County High School student who
has not reached his or her potential within a traditional school setting.
Our philosophical approach and curriculum offers students the opportunity
to obtain a high school diploma and a new view of themselves as capable,
competent young people.
Phillips
exists to provide academic,
character and career programs for students who have a wide and varied range of
unique needs. All students enrolled
are learning in a positive and cooperative invitational atmosphere.
Clear and effective leadership and teamwork are evident as parents,
members of the community, business alliances, staff, and students participate in
the total educational success of the school.
The school curriculum is designed
to prepare students to continue their education after high school.
Academic needs are met through flexible scheduling, individualized
programs and small class sizes. Varied
elective courses are part of the curriculum with full-time and part-time
scheduling available in the day and evening.
Independent study, tutorial assistance, library/media services and state
of the art technology enhance our resources in school and at home.
The Career Development process prepares students for success in the world
of work.
Phillips
has a four-star licensed
10-bed day care for student parents. The
childcare center serves as an educational tool for students interested in
pursuing a career in educating and caring for young children.
